Adrian, MI – The 2023 Lenawee County Board of Commissioners is divided…there’s no better way to put it…with most votes coming down to a 5-4 decision.
The group has held two key meetings this week- Ways & Means on Tuesday, and the regular meeting of the Commission on Wednesday.
In just those two meetings, they have voted to take another look at Administrator Kim Murphy’s three-year contract, voted for a hiring freeze for her department, voted to officially end the proposed project in Tecumseh known as Project Phoenix, and voted 5-4 on Committee placement for Commissioners.
Most of the back-and-forth at the meetings has been between Board Chairman Jim Van Doren and former Chairman David Stimpson. WLEN News asked each person to summarize what has happened this week, with the divided commission.
Here is the response by Stimpson…
Van Doren also talked about the two most recent meetings…
The issue of possible violations of the Open Meetings Act was discussed as well, and will be the topic of a future news story.
County Administrator Kim Murphy, and her department, has been the subject of some of the most heated debate. She talked to WLEN News about what it’s been like working for this board the last few days…
