Adrian, MI – The Lenawee County Board of Commissioners were sworn-in Friday morning at the Old Courthouse in Adrian. The group’s main order of business was to select a chairperson. Two people were nominated, James “Jim” Van Doren (R-District 9) and the prior chairman David Stimpson (R-District 1). Van Doren accepted the nomination, and Stimpson declined the nomination.

When it was time to vote, it was as divided as it could be, with Van Doren winning the seat by a slim 5-4 vote. Along with his own vote, Van Doren was supported by Terry Collins (R-District 6), Dustin Krasny (R-District 2), Nancy Jenkins-Arno (R-District 3), and Kevon Martis (R-District 7). Stimpson, Dawn Bales (R-District 4), “KZ” Bolton (D-District 5), and Ralph Tillotson (R-District 8) voted ‘No.’
