Jackson, MI – A Henry Ford Jackson Hospital Doctor, who was reported missing earlier this week, was found dead in a pond near his residence in Leoni Township.

The Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety says that Dr. Bolek Payan’s body was recovered by divers at about 12:30pm Tuesday afternoon. He was last seen alive on December 22nd leaving the hospital. His vehicle was found at his residence, but no contact was made with his employer, family, or friends since that date.

Detectives gained access into the home video camera system on Monday, and observed Dr. Payan leaving the residence on foot on December 22nd, in the mid-afternoon. Police say that the property had been checked with K-9 dogs, drones and on foot.

After not locating anything on land, holes were cut in the ice of a pond on the property Monday, and divers located Dr. Payan’s body under the ice Tuesday. Detectives believe he would have been deceased prior to when he was reported missing due to the weather conditions on the day that he left his residence, and the fact that he was in the water.

The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office will be conducting an autopsy and toxicology testing, which will aid in the investigation.
