
Perrysburg, OH – One driver was killed in a two-vehicle crash on the Ohio Turnpike today. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported Wednesday that the crash occurred early this morning, at about 12:54 AM.
The collision happened on the Ohio Turnpike, westbound, near MP67.7 in Wood County’s Perrysburg Township. The Post reports that a 61-year-old man from Brooklyn, New York was driving a 2017 Ford Sprinter van. The Post said that he drove off the right side of the roadway and struck a commercial tractor trailer parked in an emergency pull-off. The New York man was wearing a safety belt, but unfortunately died at the scene.
The commercial tractor trailer, occupied by a 49-year-old Toledo, Ohio man, had pulled off the roadway with engine trouble prior to the fatal crash. He was not injured.
The Swanton Highway Patrol Post continues to investigate the crash. They say that alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
