Tecumseh, MI – The Tecumseh City Council voted to approve a bid for rehabilitating their Well #9.

The notes by City Manager Dan Swallow to the Council said that according to annual pump testing reports, production from the City of Tecumseh’s Well #9 has been declining over the last couple of years, and the recommendation is to perform a cleaning.

The process would include cleaning buildup from the submerged screen, thereby allowing more groundwater to flow into the pump.

The existing pump will be pulled and examined, and it is highly likely that the pumping equipment will also need to be repaired and replaced in order to effectively bring the well back to peak capacity.

The approved bid was from Peerless Midwest…out of Ionia… for about $43,000. The project is included in the current City of Tecumseh fiscal year capital improvement plan.
