
Monroe, MI – A boat was overturned in Lake Erie, within Monroe County waters, this weekend.
Sheriff Troy Goodnough reported that a water rescue occurred in the early morning hours Sunday.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., Monroe County Central Dispatch received a call regarding an overturned vessel. Two subjects were reported to be in the water, with the caller being one of those victims. The Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit was activated, while area Fire Departments and the United States Coast Guard responded to the area.
At around 4:13 a.m. the two victims were rescued by the United States Coast Guard and brought to shore. The names of the individuals involved are being withheld at this time.
Sheriff Goodnough would like to publicly commend the coordinated rescue efforts by all personnel and agencies involved.
