Raisin Twp., MI – The Raisin Township Police Department has released more information on the death of a 27-year-old woman after a reported domestic dispute on Gady Road Monday night.

Police Chief Kevin Grayer said in a news release Tuesday morning that officers responded to shots fired complaints at around 6:45pm. It is believed at this time that two shots were fired in the area of 2987 Gady Road. Upon arrival, officers observed a woman lying in the ditch near the road, and a male near her with a gun.

Officers were able to talk the man into putting the weapon down without incident. After being interviewed, the 44 year old was taken into custody and lodged at the Lenawee County Jail.

The 27-year-old victim was the wife of the 44 year old who was taken into custody. Chief Grayer reports that it appears that  a domestic dispute had taken place inside their residence and that the wife attempted to flee to get help. She was then confronted by her husband outside of the residence, where she would loose her life at the scene.

Raisin Township Police have been in contact with the Lenawee County Prosecutors Office, and the investigation continues. Names have not been released at this time, pending review by the Prosecutors Office. Chief Grayer said that any further updates will be released at the discretion of the Prosecutors Office.
