Adrian District Library to Host Program on History of ‘Orphan Trains’

Adrian, MI – The Adrian District Library will welcome historians Al and Dave Eicher to share the history of orphan trains in America.

‘Orphan Train Era: Why was there an Orphan Train?’ will be presented on May 12th at 6:30 p.m.

This historical presentation will tell the story of over 200,000 orphan children who were transported by train and who were placed in homes throughout the United States, many of whom found homes in Michigan between 1854 and 1927.

Historic photos and videos will be shown to create an immersive and emotional experience. This historical lecture is free and open to the community. The Adrian District Library is located on Maumee Street in downtown Adrian.
