Adrian Charter Twp., MI – A 31-year-old male from Adrian was found dead at the scene of a single vehicle crash on Bent Oak Avenue Monday afternoon.
Adrian Township Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the area of Shepherd Road and Bent Oak Highway at approximately 3:49pm for a report of a crash.
A single vehicle was located in the woods on Bent Oak Hwy about 100 feet east of the roadway, and no occupants were initially found in the car or immediate area. A search was conducted, and the deceased male was found approximately 50 ft. north of the car in heavy brush.
Investigation at the scene revealed that the vehicle had been northbound and went off the road for an unknown reason, went into a ditch, hit a large metal drain, went airborne, and struck several trees approximately 20 ft. off the ground. The deceased male was ejected from the car at some point, and the vehicle came to rest on the hood.
The Adrian Township Police Department believe the crash took place sometime late Friday night into early Saturday morning, as an area resident observed a small piece of the car on the shoulder Saturday morning. The resident did no see the crashed car in the heavily wooded area.
Alcohol and/or drug use is not known at this point of the investigation.
