Dover Twp., Lenawee County – A 20-year-old male sustained serious injuries from a motorcycle vs. semi-truck crash.
On Wednesday at approximately 5:55 pm, troopers from the Monroe Post were dispatched to the two-vehicle traffic crash in Dover Township. From evidence at the scene and witness statements, state police determined that the semi-truck was pulling a dump trailer southbound on Morey Highway, and preparing to turn east on Haley Road.
A Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by the 20-year-old male, was traveling behind the semi-truck and failed to yield to the truck as it slowed down. The motorcycle then struck the truck’s trailer causing the motorcyclist to veer off into the ditch and subsequently ejected from the vehicle.
The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to Allegiance Hospital in Jackson, where he remains in critical condition. There were no other passengers on the motorcycle and the semi-truck driver was not injured. Neither drugs or alcohol are suspected to be a factor in the crash.
Troopers were assisted on scene by the Morenci Police Department, the Hudson Police Department, the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, the Hudson Fire Department, and the Clayton Fire Department.
