MSP Releases Details on Investigation into Laberdee Rd. Shooting

Update 6/16: The MSP Post released a correction in one of the victim’s names. The two victims were 24-year-old Joseph I. Niblack from Florida and 25-year-old Michael C. Madero from Raisin Township.

Raisin Twp., MI – The Michigan State Police have identified the victims that died of gunshot wounds on Laberdee Road last week.

The deceased subjects were identified as 24-year-old Joseph I. Niblack from Florida and 25-year-old Michael C. Madero from Raisin Township.

The MSP Monroe Post reports that both subjects were long time friends and according to witnesses, they got into an altercation and Niblack shot Madero and then took his own life. The reason for the shooting is still under investigation by the Michigan State Police.

The incident happened on Wednesday, June 9th, at approximately 9:20 pm.

The Michigan State Police were assisted at the scene by members of the Raisin Township Police Department, Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department, Madison Township Fire Department, and the Michigan State Police Crime Lab.

The Michigan State Police are asking anyone who may have additional information to contact the post at 734-242-3500.
