Riga Twp, Lenawee County – A 78-year-old Blissfield man died in a single vehicle crash in Lenawee County on Sunday.
The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office reports that at approximately 4:32pm, Deputies responded to an Injury Crash on Lipp Hwy south of Ottawa Lake Rd in Riga Township.
An investigation showed that a 2003 Lexus Convertible passenger car was being driven southbound on Lipp Hwy by a 48 year old male from Blissfield. The driver lost control of the vehicle on the gravel roadway causing it to go into a large ditch. The passenger, 78-year-old David Campbell, from Blissfield, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was transported to Toledo Hospital with serious injuries. He is currently listed in stable condition.
Both the driver and passenger were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash. The deceased passenger’s family has been notified.
The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Tecumseh Police Department, Riga Twp Fire Department and Mac’s Towing.
The investigation continues.
