
Macon Twp., MI – A 15 year old Britton-Deerfield student died in a single vehicle crash when the car he was driving, with his mother in the passenger seat, lost control and crashed into a tree.
The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office reports that at approximately 3:36 PM, Deputies responded to the crash on Britton Hwy south of Smith Rd in Macon Twp.
According to Sheriff’s Deputies, a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country minivan was being driven southbound on Britton Hwy by the 15 year old male from Britton. They were driving on a graduated level 1 license with his mother as the passenger.
The driver lost control of the vehicle on the snow covered and icy roadway causing it to go off the roadway and strike a tree on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
The driver died at the scene and his mother was transported to U of M hospital with serious injuries. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The crash is under further investigation.
The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Tecumseh Police Department, Adrian Police Department, Ridgeway Twp. Fire Department and LCA.
