Blissfield, MI – The contract of Blissfield Village Administrator Joe Frey has been terminated by the Village Council… and an interim position has been offered to Dewey McClary.
A 4 to 3 vote set in motion the process, giving Frey a few days from now before he is officially ‘out’ as Administrator.
Joe Frey was voted into the position just about a year ago, following the retirement of long-time Blissfield Administrator Jim Wonacott.
Bob Valdez, Barb McHenry, James Eitzen, and Gwen Dusa voted to terminate Joe Frey’s contract. Jerry Hayes, Jan Luce, and Mike Gunter voted against termination.
At a recent Council meeting, the board voted to offer an interim position to Dewey McClary. That vote was 4 to 3. The same four people that voted to terminate Frey voted to hire McClary.
McClary does have prior experience as interim administrator for other municipalities.
