Adrian Commission to Implement 3 Minute Limit for all Public Comment

Adrian, MI – The Adrian City Commission recently voted in favor of a resolution that limits public comment time in meetings to 3 minutes per comment.

The group did not completely agree however, but the resolution did pass by a 5-2 vote. Commissioners Brad Watson and Gordon Gauss voted against the measure.

One of the main reasons that Commissioners Allen Heldt, Mary Roberts, Lad Strayer, and Kelly Castleberry… and Mayor Angela Heath… voted for the resolution was that they felt that people can get their point across in 3 minutes or less.

One of the reasons why the two commissioners voted “no” was about the public’s first amendment rights.
