
Adrian, MI – A 100 year old Lenawee County WWII veteran has passed away.
Charles A. Jackson of Adrian, formerly of Palmyra, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 17th at his home.
He graduated from Adrian High School in 1937. Charles enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 and fought with the 10th Mountain Division in Italy during World War Two where he was awarded the Bronze Star.
Chuck was co-owner of Jackson’s Gas & Service Station in Palmyra with his father and had also been employed by Stubnitz, Hurd Lock, and Maxitrol Company. He was a member of the Palmyra Fire Department for 26 years and a past president of the Michigan State Firemen’s Association and belonged to the American Legion. Chuck was a member and ordained elder in the Palmyra Community Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on June 19th, 2021 at the Palmyra Community Presbyterian Church with burial of cremains to follow at Palmyra Cemetery.
