Adrian, MI – Adrian College has just added its 48th athletic team with the introduction of a coed esports program that begins this fall.
E-sports, a form of sport competition that uses multiplayer video games, continues to see a growing number of colleges sponsor programs. Adrian will become the third member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association to sponsor an esports program.
The new esports program will work in conjunction with the college’s new Esports Management minor, which was announced in April.
Adrian College selected Jon Shirley, a nine-year veteran of the school’s IT department, to serve as the program’s first head coach.
