Gregg Elliott came to an agreement with the Adrian City Commission to officially become the Interim Administrator, in addition to his duties as Community Development Director.
Also, in a late addition to the agenda, the position of Economic Development Coordinator was eliminated, effective July 17th. The unanimous vote will lay off Chris Miller. One of the reasons cited in the resolution was the need for additional code enforcement in the City… and the funding originally allocated for the Economic Development Coordinator will go towards the hiring of another Code Enforcement Officer.
The resolution also said that a staff member within the Community Development Department will be dedicated to economic development. The City also plans to continue the relationship they have with Lenawee Now.
The move by the Adrian City Commission was met with opposition in the public comment session of the virtual meeting.
