ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) – Domino’s Pizza says strong carryout sales helped it achieve better-than-expected results in the fourth quarter despite increasing competition from food delivery companies like DoorDash.

The Ann Arbor-based pizza chain says its earnings rose 16% to $129 million in the final three months of 2019.

Adjusted for one-time items, it earned $3.13 per share. A survey by FactSet shows that the results beat Wall Street’s forecast of $2.98 per share.

Domino’s U.S. sales at locations open at least a year rose $3.4% for the quarter. That also beat analysts’ forecasts. Domino’s says revenue rose 6% to $1.15 billion for the quarter.
