Developers Showing Interest in Cargotainer Property; Ordinance Changes Necessary

The Cargotainer property on Beecher Street in Adrian could have new owners by the end of this year.

The owners of City Storage, LLC have shown interest in the building that has been vacant for quite some time. As their name would imply, their company would turn the building into a self-storage facility.

Even though City Storage, LLC is ready to move forward with the purchase and renovation of the building, the property must go through a re-zoning process.

That process starts with the City of Adrian Planning Commission… and WLEN News talked to the chairman of the commission, Mike Jacobitz, about action the board took on Tuesday night…

After the Planning Commission passed their recommendation, WLEN News talked to the prospective buyers… who are from the Detroit area… about the Cargotainer property.

They said that they have walked through the building and that it really fits their needs. They also don’t plan on changing too much to the exterior, mainly just painting and landscaping.

If all goes as planned, City Storage, LLC plans to purchase the property by the fall of this year, and to be open by January, 2020.

The facility will offer self storage, both outdoor and indoor…with climate control. It will also offer RV and boat parking.

WLEN News will be tracking the progress of the Cargotainer property, and will give you updates throughout the process.
