Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education Moves Forward with Superintendent Investigation; Lays Groundwork to Hire Interim

tps

The Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education held a special meeting Thursday morning for the purpose of seeking legal advice with respect to moving forward with an investigation into alleged actions by Superintendent Ryan Rhoades…and to talk about a plan to appoint an interim Superintendent while the investigation takes place.

Rhoades was placed on non-disciplinary paid administrative leave earlier this week, one day after his contract was approved unanimously by the board.

As a result of the two-and-a-half hour meeting, the board voted to pursue a third party to conduct interviews and gather the facts that pertain to the allegations. After the investigation, which could take several weeks, the board will be presented with the findings, and will take action from there.

In the meantime, the school board must look for an interim Superintendent. Brad Hamilton, an experienced Superintendent from the region, was asked to speak at the meeting and give his background and expectations if he were to be appointed to the position.

No action was taken to hire Hamilton Thursday morning, however, a few board members will have an opportunity to meet with him to talk about potential employment.

Over 70 people, including parents, teachers, and staff of TPS, attended the meeting at the district’s administrative services center.
