The demand for water in the City of Adrian has fallen in recent weeks, and Mayor Chuck Jacobson gave an update on the treatment of it at the most recent Adrian City Commission meeting.

Utilities Director Will Sadler wrote a memo to Mayor Jacobson, saying that the demand has dropped to below 3 million gallons per day in the city, and that they have stopped using the sodium permanganate to treat the water.

He also mentioned that the lake water quality is much improved with temperatures dropping and the water treatment plant plans to cut back the use of the activated carbon as well at some point.

Mayor Jacobson went on to report that the city is using 70 percent well water and 30 percent lake water.
