Several area organizations hosted events honoring our nation’s veterans on Friday. WLEN held our Thank-A-Vet Program and raised over $28,000 for the Housing Help of Lenawee Veterans Dire Needs Fund. $8,000 of the total was matching funds by TLC Community Credit Union. Both Prairie and Alexander made significant donations to our Thank-A-Vet Program as well.

Local veterans were honored by the students and staff of Prairie Elementary as well. Veterans also had the opportunity to accompany the students to their classrooms where they participated in a question and answer period. The students put on a performance at the Adrian High School Performing Arts Center, showcasing the student’s talents behind the microphone…singing patriotic tunes.

Alexander Elementary facilitated a program as well to recognize local veterans. The morning featured singing students, which brought tears to the eyes of the audience. Veterans were then welcomed into classrooms.

Charlotte Stephenson Manor located on Kimole Lane hosted a Veterans Program, which included a 21 gun salute and flag ceremony.

Veteran’s Day is Sunday, and the city of Adrian is celebrating with a parade at 1pm.
