United Way of Monroe/Lenawee Counties Announce Campaign Chairs

Paul and Tammi Van Aken, owners of Paul’s Quality Collision of Monroe will lead the United Way of Monroe/Lenawee Counties annual fund drive this year. The Campaign Chairs will give leadership and direction to the entire campaign organization. Mr. and Mrs. Van Aken will enlist the best-qualified volunteers to help assist with raising funds necessary to provide the vital programs and services the United Way supports in our community. They will assist with planning and implementing a campaign strategy designed to achieve maximum results.

“We care deeply about our communities and the quality of life that makes Monroe and Lenawee Counties unique. United Way focuses on resources to provide solutions for our community’s most pressing problems. We believe that supporting the United Way is a sound decision and we are pleased to be able to help in this way,” said Mr. Van Aken.

Also joining the Team is Jacob (Jake) Meyers of Adrian, Business Rep for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 8, AFL-CIO, who will serve as the Labor Chair. Mr. Meyers, a lifelong resident of Adrian, gives emphasis to the strong partnership between management and organized labor. He lives in Adrian and has two children, Lily and Ethan.

“We are so excited to have such a strong leadership team for our Campaign this year,” said Connie Carroll, Executive Director. “Each one of these individuals have been involved in the community for a number of years, helping those in need, now they are joining forces to make an even larger impact by raising funds to support the programs that will provide services associated with Health, Education and Financial Stability.”

Mr. Van Aken is active in Kiwanis Club of Monroe, and Mrs. Van Aken is active with Soroptimist International of Monroe. The Van Akens have served on a number of non-profit boards in Monroe. They are Monroe residents and also have a home in Lenawee County. They have three adult children, Ryan, Sean, and Sara.

Also joining the team as Vice Chairs are Brian and Dana Reicker, owners of Tim Horton’s in Monroe, Lambertville, Flat Rock and Downriver. They are Monroe residents with two children, Sarah and Ben.

United Way of Monroe/Lenawee Counties addresses the most pressing health and human service needs in Monroe and Lenawee County. The official Kickoff for this year’s campaign will take place at a breakfast on September 14 at Monroe Golf and Country Club.
