Two Individuals Shot and Killed in Hillsdale County’s Camden Township; Suspect in Custody

On August 16, 2018 at 4:07 am Sheriff Deputies were dispatched by Hillsdale County Central dispatch to Grange Road in Camden Township to investigate a report of a Man being shot. Prior to Deputies arrival they were advised that a second man had been shot in the front yard of the residence. Troopers from the MSP Jackson post also responded to the scene. Deputies requested additional support from the MSP E.S. Team to locate and apprehend a male shooter who had walked away from the residence. Deputies and Troopers were able to remove other occupants from the residence prior to the arrival of the MSP E.S. Team. They were assisted by members from Reading Emergency Unit ambulance service in this effort. This occurred during pre-dawn; even before the scene was secured and with great risk to EMS personnel. Officers were also supported by Sheriff Deputies from Williams County Ohio in this effort. After removing occupants of the residence an extensive search began looking for the suspect in the shooting.

Sheriff Parker advises that Alexander Lee Dombrowski, age 64, died at his residence as a result of the shooting. Timothy John Curtiss, age 56, also died as a result of the shooting. Mr. Dombrowski was shot inside the residence while Mr. Curtiss was shot outside of the residence after responding to calls for help from within the residence.

The Lenawee/Hillsdale County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and assisted the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office Crime scene technicians to process the crime scene. Sheriff Deputies were assisted by the following units;

Michigan State Police, Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Branch County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette Ohio Police Department, Reading Emergency Ambulance Service, Montgomery Fire Department, Williams Co EMS and the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office Crime Victims Services Unit.

At 9:04 a.m. a Deputy from the Hillsdale Co Sheriff’s Office observed the suspect in the fatal shooting walking in a field south of the residence. The Deputy along with the MSP E.S. Team took the male subject into custody with-out incident.

Sheriff’s Deputies lodged Alexander Lee Dombrowski, age 36, in the Hillsdale County Jail on two counts of Open Murder. There was no bond set and he will be arraigned in Hillsdale District Court on Friday August 17, 2018.
