
It was a rather short Adrian City Commision meeting Monday night, but there was a full agenda. Commissioner Helt and Watson were not in attendance at this meeting, and their absences were excused unanimously by the commission.
Adrian Mayor Chuck Jacobson declared that the week of April 15th-21st be national volunteer week in the City of Adrian.
Seven consent agenda items were discussed and voted on by the commission. These items included:
-Resolution to set a public hearing date for April 16, 2018 to hear and consider comments to a Special Assessment Roll for delinquent invoices, including a 10% penalty for late payment.
-Resolution to set a public hearing date for April 16, 2018 to hear and consider comments to a Special Assessment Roll for delinquent water and sewer charges, including a 10% penalty for late payment.
-Resolution to set a public hearing date for April 16, 2018 to hear and consider comments regarding the adoption of the proposed FY2018-2019 Budget and General Appropriations Act.
-Resolution to award a bid for the Westside Storage Tank Roof Repair for the Water Plant.
-Resolution to award a bid for Lawn Fertilization & Weed Control.
-Resolution to award a bid for Construction of Storage Barn at Oakwood Cemetery.
-Resolution to award a bid for the Broad Street HVAC Replacement Project.
All items were passes unanimously.
Two ordinances to amend zoning codes were voted on as well, both passing by a 4 yes 1 no vote. Commissioner Valentine was the no vote in both cases for personal and political reasons. Another ordinance voted on, and approved, was a first reading to amend Article eleven titled “Commercial Medical Marihuana Facilities”. One of these changes included upping the amount of provisioning centers allowed in the city of Adrian from 5 to 10.
Only one Special Order was on the agenda, and that was a public hearing to hear and consider comments regarding the Special Assessment Roll for SAD #389.
Four resolutions were voted on as well:
-Resolution confirming Special Assessment Roll for SAD #389 and certifying costs – Springtime Acres.
-Resolution to approve the RE-revised Controlled Substances and Alcohol Misuse Testing Policy for Adrian Dial-A-Ride.
-Resolution to approve a Medical Marihuana Application and Fee Schedule.
-Resolution to approve a Special Event Permit Application fee for use of alcohol in City parks.
All of the resolutions passed, but not all of the unanimously.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Adrian City Commission will be April 16th, 2018 in the City Chambers at 159 E Maumee Street in downtown Adrian.
