
The Board of Directors of the Hudson Foundation has announced that Joann Crater of Hudson is the recipient of the 2018 Spirit of Hudson Award. Joann has been a resident of Hudson for nearly 40 years. Her contributions to the quality of life in Hudson include over 20 years as a librarian, and as Head Librarian since 2012. Under her direction, the library has offered a variety of educational, informational and activity opportunities. Outside of the library, Joann has been involved in the Hudson Chamber of Commerce, organized the Hudson Festival for several years, is active on the Lenawee County Fair Board, and served as a bus driver for Hudson Schools, Pittsford Schools, and Hillsdale College. She plays piano at the Hudson Baptist Church and the Waldron Wesleyan Church. Joann has been a foster parent, a 4-H leader, a clown, a member of the Fire Auxiliary, a band booster, and a leader in Junior Achievement as well as a mom
and grandmother. She has been an essential part of establishing the free concerts for the Celebrate Hudson Music in the Park Series. One of her most successful
projects for the City of Hudson has been the annual Christmas Dinner, which serves 100+ people a year on Christmas Day at the community center. She is the embodiment of the Spirit of Hudson. Joann will be honored at the Hudson Foundation’s annual dinner on April 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the Hudson American Legion, 16113 Cadmus Rd, Hudson.
