BROOKLYN — The Village of Brooklyn says new U.S. Census Bureau estimates show the community led Jackson County in population growth from 2020 to 2025.

Federal estimates released Tuesday show Brooklyn’s population increased 10.4 percent over five years, growing from 1,313 residents in 2020 to an estimated 1,450 in 2025.

Village officials say the growth is tied to new housing, business development, and infrastructure improvements. Village Manager Matt Swartzlander says about 54 single-family homes have been added in the past five years.

Village Council President Estella Roberts says leaders remain focused on managing growth while preserving the village’s small-town character.
