Kenneth Lyle “Ken” Harper, age 70, of Adrian, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 17, 2026.
Ken was born on April 19, 1955, in Adrian, Michigan, to Lyle and Lorraine (Tredway) Harper. He graduated from Tecumseh High School and went on to build a dedicated career with Verizon (formerly GTE), where he worked for 30 years retiring as a switchman.
In addition to his professional life, Ken served his community with distinction as a volunteer firefighter for the Raisin Township Fire Department. Rising to the rank of captain and earning his EMT certification, he exemplified commitment and leadership in service to others.
Ken was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Adrian. He found joy in flying model airplanes, playing bass guitar, practicing calligraphy, and cheering on NASCAR races. He also loved camping and riding his Gold Wing motorcycle with his lady. Above all else, Ken cherished time spent with his family.
To cherish his memory, Ken leaves his loving wife, Beverly; son, Michael Harper; daughter, Crystal (Scottie) Walker; a grandson, Scottie George Walker III (aka Grampy’s Big Guy); and two sisters, Sharon (Jack) McCarley and Lori (Greg) Hall. Ken was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Marry Funeral Home, Tecumseh, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 10:00 am until the funeral service begins at noon. Burial will follow at Lenawee County Memorial Gardens in Tecumseh.
