Monroe County Announces 2026 Boater Safety Classes

MONROE CO. — Boater safety classes are now open for registration ahead of the 2026 boating season.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says those who complete the course will receive a certificate required for many operators under Michigan law.

Topics include navigation rules, crash prevention, fueling, environmental concerns, and boating safety. Classes are scheduled for Saturday, May 30th and Sunday, May 31st from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Frenchtown Charter Township Municipal Building.

Pre-registration is required online. Students 10 and under must attend with a parent or older sibling.
