WASHINGTON — Federal food safety officials are warning consumers about certain beef and pork products that may have been sold without proper inspection.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a public health alert for products sold under the Blackwing Meats label.

Officials say the items were produced between April 2024 and March 2026 without federal inspection and in some cases used a false USDA inspection mark.

The products were shipped nationwide, meaning they could be in Michigan and potentially in Lenawee County.

However, there are no confirmed illnesses. Officials warn uninspected meat may carry bacteria or contaminants.

Consumers are urged to check their freezers and not consume the products. Items should be thrown away or returned.
