MONROE – A 46-year-old Monroe man is dead after a fight in a hotel room in Monroe Township, in what authorities are investigating as a homicide.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reports that at approximately 4:52 a.m. on Saturday, dispatchers received a report of a disturbance at the Econo Lodge located at 6500 East Albain Road in Monroe Township.
Upon arrival, deputies were directed to a room where they made contact with three subjects, one of whom was found unconscious.
Rescue personnel from the Monroe Charter Township Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance responded and attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The remaining two subjects were transported to the Sheriff’s Office, where one individual was ultimately lodged and the other was released.
The victim was transported to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification, and the suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment.
Officials say there is no threat to the community.
