DUNDEE — Dundee Police have recovered more than 37-thousand dollars in stolen tools and a trailer following a weekend burglary at a local business.

Investigators say the theft happened at a business in the 5000 block of Ann Arbor Road, where an enclosed trailer filled with specialty and power tools was taken. Surveillance video, installed just days earlier, helped identify a former employee as one of the suspects.

Police say the 58-year-old Fenton man and an accomplice used a relative’s pickup truck to tow the trailer away Sunday evening.

The investigation tracked the stolen trailer to the Fenton area, near the truck owner’s home. A second suspect, a 38-year-old Davison man, was later identified, and the stolen tools were tracked to a Swartz Creek property.

The property owner, unaware the items were stolen, cooperated with police, allowing recovery of the tools and the trailer, which had its license plate removed and VIN ground off.

Dundee Police are now seeking multiple felony charges through the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office. Officials also credited the Michigan State Police Flint Post for assisting in the investigation.
