Jerry Paul McCord, age 91 was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 23, 2025 at the Hospice of Lenawee Home in Adrian. He was born September 28, 1934 in Caraway, AR the son of the late Roy Vernon and Dorothy Irene (Harris) McCord. On February 14, 1981 in Adrian, he married Barbara Hutchins and they had 45 wonderful years together.
Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After the service Jerry went to work for General Motors as a millwright and retired in 1998 after 37 years. He was a faithful member of the Tecumseh Missionary Baptist Church. Jerry liked fixing cars, building hot rods and going to antique car shows. He enjoyed building houses and was extremely creative. If it was broke Jerry could fix it, no job he wasn’t willing to take on.
Along with his wife, Barbara, Jerry is survived by his sons, Jody Lee McCord, Michael Adam McCord and Richard Cody McCord; four grandchildren, Ronnie Shepherd, Daniel Shepherd, Melissa McCord and Adalyn McCord; and several great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Sherry Lynn Shepherd and a sister, Mary Pauline McCord.
Visitation for Jerry will be from 3pm – 5pm on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be on Monday at 1pm with Pastor Brian Jones officiating with visitation from noon until the time of the service. Burial will be in Maple Shade Cemetery in Onsted. Memorial contributions my be made to Tecumseh Missionary Baptist Church or Hospice of Lenawee.
