LENAWEE CO. — Residents across Lenawee, Jackson, and Hillsdale counties who need help filing their taxes may qualify for free tax preparation assistance.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program is being offered through the Community Action Agency for households earning up to $69,000 in 2025.
Appointment slots can fill quickly, but additional times may be added depending on volunteer availability.
There is also a new option this year for people who prefer to submit their documents online. Taxpayers can upload their information through GetMyRefund.org/CAAJLH, where trained volunteers will still prepare the return at no cost and notify filers when it’s ready.
To schedule an appointment by phone, residents can call 517-247-2099 or register online at CAAJLH.ITFrontDesk.com.
Anyone earning up to $89,000 can also file their federal and state taxes for free online through MyFreeTaxes.com.
