Mary was born on April 15, 1938, the oldest daughter of Arthur and Crystle (Fortman) Jedele. She was raised in Manchester, MI and graduated from Manchester High School in 1956.
Mary was introduced to Carter Ray while he was home on leave from the Marines and what an impression he made. It did not take them long to realize they had met their special person and were married in October 1956. They have been married for 68 wonderful years and raised 3 daughters Gail, Linda and Dawn. Mary taught her daughters how to love and be there for others. She demonstrated what it was like to be a nurturing and supportive mother and wife.
Mary and Carter decided to take up golf in the late 1970’s. They had no idea how this sport would bring them so much joy. Whenever they were traveling, Mary and Carter made sure to pack their clubs as they always took time to hit the greens. They made lifelong friends through their golf leagues, sharing many laughs and adventures over the years.
In addition to her husband, Carter, Mary is survived by their daughters, Gail Ray Bradley, Linda Ray Grauman and Dawn Ray; grandchildren, Brandi Bradley, Brent Rutherford, Scott Rutherford, Sara Rutherford and Kelly Baker; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, June Jedele Metty; 3 nieces and 1 nephew; and a treasured friend of more than 40 years, Ann Ballard. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer at Carr Park in Manchester.
