ADRIAN — The Lenawee County Board of Commissioners has issued a proclamation recognizing March as Severe Weather Awareness Month.
County officials say the proclamation highlights the importance of preparedness as Michigan enters a time of year when thunderstorms, high winds, and tornadoes become more common.
Commissioners are encouraging residents to review their emergency plans, prepare disaster supply kits, and stay aware of weather alerts issued by local emergency management and the National Weather Service.
Officials say preparation at home, at work, and in schools can help families respond quickly and safely when severe weather strikes.
The proclamation also recognizes the work of local emergency responders and agencies that help coordinate weather preparedness and public safety efforts across Lenawee County.
