ADRIAN — Lenawee County commissioners spent this past Saturday outlining priorities during a strategic planning session led by Kent County Administrator Alan Vanderberg.
The session focused on identifying key projects and long-term goals for county government. Commissioners and staff created a list of potential initiatives and then ranked them by importance through a scoring process.
According to the discussion, the highest-ranked priorities centered on county facilities and services. The top items included completing a countywide facilities space needs study and developing a plan for a future judicial facility.
Other priorities discussed included developing a county vision and mission statement, identifying solutions for medical examiner services, and creating a jail bed utilization plan to determine how unused space in the county jail could be managed.
Additional ideas raised during the session included improving communication with residents, exploring collaboration with economic development partners, and examining ways to support housing rehabilitation programs.
County staff will compile the results into a strategic planning report that may guide future budget and policy decisions.
