Karen Jillen Jasmund passed away on March 2, 2026, after a battle with cancer. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home in Manitou Beach, surrounded by family and close friends.

Karen was known for her vibrant personality, her beaming smile and her love for all those around her. She never met a stranger. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, hosting events, putting up her massive Christmas tree during the holidays, making buckeyes, homemade noodles and pumpkin rolls. Karen was often seen on the water driving her friends and family around the lake on her pontoon. She loved hunting mushrooms, fishing, and camping. She often spent her winter months in Florida with her lifelong friends, soaking up the sun. Karen had a blessed life.

Karen was dedicated to helping others during her long career as an LPN. She worked at Bixby Hospital where she made lifelong friends that were with her to her last days. She also proudly worked at Jackson State Prison for many years. She was a self-proclaimed “Prison B*itch”. Many of the kids that had the blessing of growing up around Karen where often threatened with her going into “Prison Mode” if they misbehaved. Although, it was an empty threat.

Karen’s boisterous, bright light will go on through all of her family, friends, and all those she helped. She brought joy to those around her and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Jasmund. She is survived by her daughters, Mindy Jasmund and Marcy Borden; her granddaughter, Katy McKenzie; her sisters, Cheryl Tuckerman and Janelle Allen; her nephew, Brian Van Der Mey; her niece, Elise Allen; and many extended members of the Jasmund Family.
