TECUMSEH — The Tecumseh Public Schools Safety, Facilities & Grounds Committee reported progress on several capital projects, including a tennis court grant application seeking $200,000 for high school renovations.
Facilities Director Josh Mattison told the committee the district has submitted completed drawings and bid documents to the U.S. Tennis Association for review. The proposed tennis court renovations would upgrade the high school courts if the grant is awarded.
Mattison said the district expects to hear back within two to three weeks. In addition to the tennis court grant, the district is working with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the Lenawee Community Foundation to explore supplemental funding sources.
The committee also received updates on other facility projects. Planning continues for the demolition of the high school pool, with crews completing field verification measurements as part of the design phase. Once designs are finalized, documents will be submitted to the state for approval.
At Tecumseh Middle School, an elevator jack replacement is scheduled for June 1 through June 10, immediately following the end of the school year. The district is also moving forward with repairs to a pole barn at the middle school to improve storage conditions for furniture and athletic equipment.
If the tennis court grant is approved, renovations could move forward later this year.
