TECUMSEH — Tecumseh Public Schools recognized its School Resource Officer during Monday night’s Board of Education meeting, honoring Sergeant Langford and K9 Buddy for their service.
The recognition was in observance of National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, held on February 15. Superintendent Matt Hilton highlighted Langford’s background in the U.S. Army, firefighting and paramedic service, and law enforcement before stepping into the district’s School Resource Officer role.
Board members noted the daily impact of the School Resource Officer program, particularly the role of K9 Buddy in supporting students and staff during crisis situations. Administrators said the K9 program has become an important part of building positive relationships within school buildings and strengthening school safety efforts.
Langford thanked the board for supporting the addition of the K9 program, saying the opportunity to work alongside Buddy has allowed him to see firsthand the positive difference the program makes across the district.
Tecumseh Public Schools partners with local law enforcement to maintain a School Resource Officer presence in its buildings.
