TECUMSEH — The Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education advanced plans tied to the pool closure Monday night, including a reduction in force, eliminating the district’s pool director position.
The pool closure follows the board’s earlier decision to demolish the aging facility as part of capital planning efforts. During the discussion, Superintendent Matthew Hilton said the pool director’s role is no longer operationally necessary once demolition begins.
Hilton told trustees the reduction in force reflects the facility’s status, not the employee’s performance. He stated the individual served the district well and that the recommendation is based strictly on operational redundancy created by the pool closure.
The pool closure and position elimination were brought forward as action items tied to the broader facilities transition plan. Demolition planning is already underway.
The board is expected to take formal action on the reduction in force as part of its scheduled vote agenda.
District officials continue to move forward with site planning related to the former pool space following demolition.
