LENAWEE CO. — Radio remains America’s most trusted mass medium, according to a new study highlighted by the World Radio Alliance.
The report cites a Katz Radio Group Media Trust Study showing 79% of U.S. adults consider radio trustworthy or very trustworthy. That ranks ahead of newspapers at 77%, television and magazines at 68%, and social media at 28%.
The data also show 83% of Americans listen to radio each week. Broadcast radio accounts for 61 percent of daily audio listening time, surpassing music streaming, podcasts and online music videos.
The study found 81% of listeners see on-air personalities as friends or acquaintances, and 83% trust their favorite hosts’ opinions.
Radio also remains a key source for local information, with listeners tuning in for news, weather, traffic and community events.
The findings underscore radio’s continued reach and credibility in a fragmented media landscape.
