Marilyn Joyce Hawkins, age 87, of Adrian, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Hampton Manor of Adrian.
She was born on October 13, 1938, in Adrian, to Percy W. and Dorothy E. (Shaw) Swartz. Marilyn married Larry J. Hawkins on April 16, 1994, in Clayton, MI. They cherished over 28 years together before his passing on July 3, 2022.
Marilyn worked for several years with Standard Federal Bank of Lenawee, where she served as a Loan Officer and was later promoted to Branch Manager. She was also a homemaker who took pride in raising her family. Marilyn had a deep appreciation for travel and achieved the goal of visiting every state in the United States. She additionally enjoyed reading and solving crossword puzzles.
She is survived by two sons, Michael (Lori) Schmitz and James “Jamie” (Molly) Schmitz; four daughters, Michelene (Ed) Carr, Melissa (David) Archer, Karla (Brian) Miller, and Sabrina (Jay) Martinez; one brother, Kenton (Mary) Swartz; one sister, Barbara Parkhurst; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Larry, Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Arthur Schmitz Jr.; one brother, Curtis Swartz; and one sister, Donna Schmitz.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering for Marilyn will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian from 3:00 pm until the memorial service begins at 5:00 pm. Burial will be held at a later date in Maple Shade Cemetery in Onsted.
