MONROE — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents to update or register loved ones in the SAFE Program.

The SAFE Program allows first responders to access critical information about individuals with disabilities or medical conditions during emergencies.

The program is a collaboration between the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, county first responders, the Monroe County Intermediate School District, and Monroe Community Mental Health.

Officials say the system helps improve safety and communication when responding to calls involving conditions such as autism, Alzheimer’s disease, PTSD, or diabetes.

Residents can register through the County of Monroe website under the Sheriff’s Office SAFE Program section.

Information provided is entered into the county’s computer-aided dispatch system so responders receive alerts when dispatched to a registered address.

Registrants also receive decals for their home or vehicle.

Additional information is available through the Sheriff’s Office Records Division.
