
Marylou Nieto, age 77, of Adrian, MI, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026. (at Bixby) She was born December 29, 1948, in Adrian, MI, the daughter of Amado & Petra (Martinez) Casarez. On October 15, 1966, she married Alejandro Nieto Jr. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Blissfield, MI, he survives. For nearly 60 years, Alex and Marylou Nieto were blessed to share a life built together in love. A devoted mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, she lived her life with an open heart, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her greatest joy was spending time with her kids and grandchildren, cooking for the family, spending summer weekends at the campground, and reminiscing over old photos and scrapbooking. Marylou took great pride in her 36 years of service at Bixby Hospital. Her warm heart and laugh always made us all feel comforted and cared for. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will resonate in the hearts of her loved ones forever. In addition to her husband Alejandro Jr., she is survived by her children, Alex III (Michelle) Nieto, Abel (Kari) Nieto, Juan (Tonia) Nieto, Nanette Nieto-Kniffen (George M. Watts), and Derek Nieto; thirteen grandchildren, Courtney N. Hernandez, Caleb A. (Lauren) Nieto, Nathaniel C. Nieto (Jordan), Kohl (Ariana) Nieto, Dylan (Kristin) Lape, Zachary (Melissa) Nieto, Dakotah (Jazmin) Nieto, Frankie, Jacob, Ezeckiel, Lukas, Ashley, Dylan, Crystal, Xavier, Helayna and Aubree; great grandchildren, Giovanni C. Hernandez, Ayana B. Hernandez, Liam A. Nieto, Roman and Riley Nieto, Austin, Morgan, Qwedan, Mason, Ander, Macie, Josie, Lorelai, Deegan, Gwendolyn, Sutton; great great grandchildren, Bentley, Zoey, Colton and Cooper; siblings, Fermina (Paul) Garcia, Josie (Richard) Rosas, Ernest Casarez, Richard Casarez and Rudy Casarez of Adrian, Sylvia (Tony) Ybarra, Teresa Casarez and Grace (Larry) Henry; sisters in law, Kina Casarez, Julie Chandler, Ruthie (Keith) Whipple; brothers in law, Gilbert (Jayne) Nieto, Tony Nieto and Raul Nieto; father in law, Alejandro Nieto, Sr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amado & Petra Casarez; three brothers, Amado Casarez, Julian Casarez, Jose Casarez; one sister, Emma; mother in law, Manuela Nieto; sister and brothers in law, Matias & Jesusita Saldivar and Richard Nieto. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Holy Family Parish, St. Mary Campus, with Fr. Tom Helfrich presiding. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh, MI. Viewing & Visitation will be on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil Prayer Service at Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N.
