Tommie Lee Turpening, age 82 of Adrian, MI, passed away on January, 31st 2026 at Whispering Pines in Adrian. Tommie was born in Delta, Ohio to Fred Turpening and Ethel Bartlett on July 1st 1943. He worked as a machine operator at General Motors for 25 years and retired in 2006. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed bowling, cooking out and spending time with family. Tommie is survived by his daughters, Tammie Manders, Shari (Nathan) Chamberlain, Kimberly (Brian) Dowell and Kristi Brousseau. He is also survived by his sisters Audrey Turpening and Diane Taylor, 21 grandchildren,16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceeded in death by his parents, his wife Sharon Turpening, brothers Fred (Sonny) and Johnny and sisters, Jean, Lois and Margret, his son Tommie Lloyd Turpening, stepson Buddy Patrick, his son-in-law Michael Manders, stepmom, Vivian Turpening and sister-in-law Vicky Turpening. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time. A small private memorial will be held at a later date. Purse Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
