Michigan State Police honor 2025 award recipients

LANSING — Michigan State Police recognized about 90 current and former members during an awards ceremony Tuesday in East Lansing.

The ceremony honored promotions, milestone service anniversaries, and awards for heroism, lifesaving efforts, and community impact.

Sergeant Lena Wresinski of the Paw Paw Post was named the 2025 Trooper of the Year for leadership, professionalism, and service, including transporting a child to the hospital during a winter storm when emergency access was limited.

Motor Carrier Officer Bryan Walker of the Jackson Post was recognized for enforcement work targeting commercial vehicle safety and fraud.

Nicole Ascroft of the Lapeer Post was named Civilian of the Year for administrative leadership and operational support.

Retired Detective Lieutenant Donald Watson was honored for continued community service supporting veterans.

The Niles Post received the Community Policing Outstanding Achievement Award, and Trooper Macon Derleth was recognized for bilingual outreach efforts in southwest Michigan.
