NELSON EUGENE HANDY, age 84 years of Hudson, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Spring Creek Rehab and Nursing Center, Adrian. He was born on May 12, 1941, in Adrian, the son of Perry and Vivian (Vanderpool) Handy.
Nelson married Marjorie A. Raymond on August 25, 1961, in Madison Center. She survives. He worked as a welder for over 40 years at Mitchell’s Welding, Adrian. Nelson loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, 4-wheeling with the Jeep, pony pulling, tractor pulling and tractor shows. He attended North Rome Baptist Church.
Nelson is survived by his wife, Marjorie, a son, Rick (Denise) Handy, a daughter, Christina (Steven) Emery, three grandchildren, Rachel Handy, Sarah (Kevin) Siemen and Anthony (Margaret) Emery, three great-grandchildren, Amelia and Ezra Handy-Moore and Theodore Siemen, nine brothers and sisters, Linda (Jim) VanPelt, Penny (Ned “Buck”) Rogers, David (Sandy) Handy, Phillip (Georgia) Handy, Phyllis (Dave) Brott, Terry (Susan) Handy, Patrick (Cathy) Handy, Cheri (Lyle) Calvin and Mary Sue Butler, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Andrew Emery and sisters, Judy Handy and Marge (George) Converse.
Funeral Services for Nelson will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 31, 2006, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home, Hudson with Pastor Fritz Kruse officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the funeral home from 3-6:00 P.M.
