Roger Gene Morgan, age 82, of Adrian, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at home surrounded by the love of his family and under the care of Hospice of Lenawee.
Roger was born on March 12, 1943 in Isaban, West Virginia, one of fourteen children to Alex and Elizabeth (Griffey) Morgan. Roger learned early on how to work hard and be responsible, valuable traits he carried throughout his lifetime. After graduating from Madison High School, Roger entered the work force full-time.
It was during high school that Roger’s friends introduced him to a pretty girl named Jannette. He quickly realized how special she was and on July 28, 1962, Roger married Donnie “Jannette” Emerson. They embraced raising their three children and traveling to all 48 contiguous states. Roger and Jannette celebrated 60 wonderful years together before her death on October 20, 2022.
For many years Roger worked at DURA in Adrian as a general foreman. Roger preferred staying busy, so it was no surprise that his free time included building houses with his brothers or helping his father-in-law with farming. When Roger and Jannette’s children were young, they had their own little farm with horses, cows and chickens. He earned the nickname “Cowboy” as watching westerns, especially John Wayne movies was a favorite pastime in later years.
Roger will be missed by his children, Kevin (Teresa) Morgan and Shelby Morgan; grandchildren, Andrew Morgan, Lyndsey Dullaghan, Aaron Morgan, Jessica Morgan, Kaylah Morgan, Sydney Morgan, Haley Perry, Rhys Morgan, Jacob Perry, Daniel Perry and Benjamin Morgan; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Delmas, Raymond, Donald, Alma, Alton and Gerald. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jannette; son, Sean Morgan and 7 siblings, including his brother and best friend, Curtis, who recently died.
